Across the river, the sunlight falls on some newly built warehouses (right of centre), and the words 'Baynards Castle' and 'Copper Company' can just be discerned. This area was the centre of the copper trade in London. Many merchants and companies, such as the English Copper Company and the Carron Company, had their offices and warehouses there.
